TO CAPTURE EX-GOV. REYES? -- ALAM

Remember this face of ex-Palawan gov Joel T. Reyes

Alab ng Mamamahayag (ALAM) President Atty. Berteni Causing wondered whether the Philippine National Police (PNP) needs reward money for the immediate capture of former Palawan Gov. Joel Reyes to answer the charge that he masterminded the murder of broadcaster Gerry "Doc Gerry" Ortega.

Causing said it took a year to serve him the warrant, and when it is being served, Reyes couldn’t be found.

The most the family of the murdered broadcaster could do is to appeal to the public to help by giving information of Reyes’ whereabouts.

ALAM Chairman Jerry Yap said informants can send text messages about Reyes at his ‘Bulabugin’ column number: 09278989991.

Patty Ortega, Gerry’s wife, said they received reports that Reyes is in Metro Manila.

ALAM condemns Department of Interiors and Local Government (DILG) Sec. Jesse Robredo for giving Reyes one week to surrender to the authorities.

“Gov. Reyes, there is no other way to prove your innocence but by the court,” Yap said. “If you are for public service, serve us with courage and truth,” he added.

Yap said Reyes has plenty of money to boot to hire the best lawyers. “He should have the balls to bet like his lawyer (Atty.) Ferdinand Topacio.”

Causing even advised Reyes not to be ashamed of being jailed because most heroes were born, lived and died while in jail.

Puerto Princesa City Police Supt. Ronito Osia said in an interview that they served the warrant to the locations where Reyes should be but the subject (Reyes) was not there.

Osia said they are doing their very best to locate Reyes, but if he is no longer in Palawan, it will be difficult for them to do that
