RECKLESS COPS!

Are you sure PNP? Tribune journalist has many namesakes in Facebook.

Three days after Daily Tribune’s Malacañang-beat reporter was ambushed and while he was yet critical at the intensive care unit (ICU) of the Pasig General Hospital, instead of looking for the assassins Eastern Police District dug up into the victim.

Classic!

Last March 14, EPD spokesman Supt. Ganaban Ali announced that Tribune’s Fernan Angeles has a warrant for his arrest on a drug possession incident that occurred on February 28, 2011 along Bolante 2 St., Barangay Pinagbuhatan,  Pasig.

About 10:00 in the evening of March 11, along Orante St., Barangay Palatiw, the reporter was shot successively and six bullets hit his body, one of them caused a bone fracture. He is now fighting for life at the intensive care unit (ICU) of the Pasig General Hospital.

This triggered a deluge of condemnation from all media organizations and individuals, including ALAB NG MAMAMAHAYAG (ALAM) and National Press Club (NPC).

Joined by Alyansa ng Filipinong Mamamahayag (Afima), ALAM and NPC put up a P100,000.00 award for the arrest of the gunman or gunmen.

While the condemnation was gaining strength on the second day, the National Prosecution Service headed by Chief State Prosecutor Claro M. Arellano caused the approval of a reinvestigation resolution in the case of killing broadcaster Dr. Gerry “Doc Gerry” Ortega on January 24, 2011 in Puerto Princesa, charging former Palawan governor Joel T. Reyes, his brother Mario Joel T. Reyes of Coron in Palawan and former Palawan provincial administrator Atty. Romeo Serratubias as the “brains” of the murder plot.

On the third day when the police have not found any suspect in the assault against Angeles, the EPD announced that the Tribune reporter has a standing warrant of arrest, going to the extent of announcing that the EPD was very sure that the man fighting for his life is one and the same Fernando Javier Angeles charged with violation of Section 11 of Republic Act 9165, Criminal Case No. 17525-D pending at the Regional Trial Court of Pasig, Branch 154.

Reckless cops!

The policemen whose duties are to investigate the gunmen and the brains, they dug into the victim!

They have not yet verified whether the Tribune reporter is indeed the same as Fernando Javier Angeles yet they already concluded.

Several cops identified as PO2 ROMEO SOLON and PO3 GUALAVER VEGA who identified themselves as from a follow-up unit but without saying which of the “follow-up” units in hundreds of police stations even rushed to the ICU, trying to compel Fernan Angeles to sign something when the victim was still unconscious.

What kind of cops does the Philippines have?

A search done showed that there are at least 11 “Fernan Angeles” account names in Facebook.

Another search showed there are at least two “Angeles Fernan” account names in the same social site.

Another search showed there two “Fernando Angeles” accounts in FB.

Another search hit one “Fernando Angeles Jr.” in the same Mark Zuckerberg creation.

They charge reporters with libel for “reckless facts” or “biting” opinions. But what do you call policemen and public officials who are also reckless in the facts?

ALAM and NPC could only ask.

How many year can Philippines have flawless cops?

i think this incident needs a deeper and more comprehensive investigation in seeking out the truth. furthermore the police ought to have a more convincing proof and evidence and should not rely on a mere "namesake".
